Celeb Spotting at the 2012 Toronto Film Fest: Naomi Watts Wore Old Rose & A New Lanvin Minaudiere

Sep 11 2012

A vision in soft rose petal pink, Naomi Watts arrived on the red carpet for the 2012 Toronto Film Festival Premiere of her film, The Impossible, held September 9 in Canada:

It wasn’t only her dress color that made several male onlookers blush, it was also because her admirable quiet elegance spoke the loudest volume in the crowd. Her structured peplum dress from Elie Saab hugged in the right places, plus the buckled leather belt cinched her tiny waist to perfection.

Lanvin Two-Tone Minaudiere, $2,390

She complemented her frock with gold jewelry and opted to go bare on the neck but quite full on arm candy. Note the bracelets on both wrists, plus the belt with metal hardware. Her simple crystal-drop earrings was fitting for her clean, ponytail look. Finally, the Lanvin Minaudiere deserves a high five for its sleek & luxurious feel which is small enough to pass as an evening clutch but spacious enough to tuck her little treats in. We mean a tube of lipstick, a compact and possibly a thin mobile. There are actually several colors available of the Lanvin Minaudiere but she chose this pale blue, almost white shade with the standard gold case outline. Indeed, the clutch served more than expected — why, she even used its surface for signing some autographs!

This Season: Falling Deep Into Dark Romance With ShopBop’s Clutch & Jewelry Collection

Sep 4 2012

ShopBop has a new face, alright, one that is actually making my shopping experience with them more pleasant. I am loving the clean lines and the absence of that distinct papaya-hued banner. For some reason, I favor ShopBop more than any other online boutiques. I just had to peek into their clutch bag & jewelry collection when I realized I had to update mine.

As fall sets in, I realize that my preferences have taken a different turn as well. I am now looking into a deeper palette in the brown, black, crimson and plum hues. Exactly what I envision old Victorian-era romance to be. But with a modern twist, of course. Here are my best sets!

Diane von Furstenberg Lytton Lace Clutch $325.00 / Juliet & Company Plume Noir Earrings $50.00

I instantly felt this lace brocade clutch to be a winner because of its affinity to romance & seduction, plus the twig-shaped closure is a beautiful detail. Perhaps a rendezvous in the forest? The jet-faceted crystal earrings are so vintage, it makes me think of turtleneck collars and wispy ponytails.

House of Harlow 1960 Rey Suede Bag $158.00 / Fallon Jewelry Triple Winged Necklace $315.00

Definitely of Victorian descent, this suede bag captures my look book for fall 2012 to a perfect T. I can see it worn as a crossbody paired with a short, casual dress and heeled booties. The necklace is an altogether different thing: Swarovski renders the sweetness while the spike additions play a hint of dangerous. I love the combination!

Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Banker’s Oversized Clutch $270.00 / Vanessa Mooney Destiny Cross Necklace $150.00

I can easily picture this clutch as my carry-all for the whole season because it’s oversized (very roomy!) and versatile enough to pair with just about anything. And especially with leather boots, I think it will look amazing. The antique leather finish (snake-embossed) gives it a vintage appeal plus I love the slim handle details at the top. This cross pendant necklace I chose is also vintage-y, carved brass and faceted beads are very rich and romantic.

Deal of the Day: Rachel Zoe Snake Embossed Envelope Clutch

Aug 20 2012

Getting ready for fall means toning down, and I mean way down, on the colors of the past season. As we transcend to the cooler months of the year, we might want to make a quick stop at our closet door to check if we are indeed geared for the next weather. Not only do we need the basic separates such as warmer jackets, longer boots, scarves and hats, we should also prepare to be chic & stylish when embracing the crisp air. Rule #1: have at least one fabulous clutch bag in a neutral color.

Such as this pretty baby by the ultimate lady of style, Rachel Zoe. An in-demand celebrity stylist, Zoe has proven herself as a fashion icon and is considered one of the most stylish in Hollywood. The Snake Embossed Envelope Clutch is my choice for a transition clutch bag because of its color and texture. It’s a safe hue, alright, and a bit ho-hum on the side, but when paired with the right gemstone colors such as a deep crimson or an extraordinary scarlet, this clutch bag will become obsess-ible.

Crafted in fine calfskin leather, this clutch bag is made even finer with gold metal trim on the sides and at the magnetic flap closure. It also features an extra interior compartment with center zip divider plus wall and cell phone pockets, and measures 12″W x 7″H x 4″D.

The best-est news of all? This clutch is on sale (50% discount) at Nordstrom, you can now get it at half the price of the original retail, that’s a whopping $246.90 in savings! Buy the Rachel Zoe Snake Embossed Envelope Clutch, from $495 to $246.90!

Taking the Spotlight with Totally Unorthodox Clutches

Aug 10 2012

 1. London Taxi Clutch, $465

2. Black Doll Face Fifi Clutch, $420

3. Black Satin Postcard Felicity Clutch, $360

4. Bag of Books, $495

5. Black Cameo Fiona, $435

6. Red Swarovski Crystallized Lips Clutch, $1095

7. Black Pearls of Wisdom Book Clutch, $465

Have you heard of the Lulu Guinness London Taxi clutch or perhaps her lip-shaped clutch bathed in Swarovski crystals? The very British Lulu Guinness, who has earned accolades in the UK fashion industry including the coveted Lifetime Achievement in Handbag Design Award, launched her handbag and fashion accessories line back in 1989.

Adding a touch of whimsy to your wardrobe is nothing new to the fashion world, stylish women have done it often: think Alexa Chung, Sophia Bush, Ashley Tisdale, Tulisa Contostavlos, Katy Perry, Sienna Miller and Agyness Deyn. Unorthodox clutches provide a respite from the ordinary, everyday grind and momentarily brings the wearer and the spectator to another place and time. My personal favorite happens to be the London Taxi clutch and this adorable little mobile phone case:

Red Phone Box Patent Phone Holder, $95

The most popular among Lulu Guinness’ clutch bag collection is the Lips line, and is available in a variety of colors and textures. It is also one of the most sought after accessories amongst fashion forward celebrities. Other designers like the iconic Phillip Lim, YSL, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Judith Leiber and Diane Von Furstenberghave also jumped into this trend wagon but it is the work of Lulu Guinness that attracts me most because of its vintage cum retro chic essence. Nevertheless, here are some funky clutches you can also enjoy from other designers!

1. Kate Spade New York Tiki Bar Cocktail Clutch $250.99 (Sold Out)

2. Marc by Marc Jacobs Werdie Clutch $79.86 (Sold Out)

3. Diane von Furstenberg Mixed-Media Keyhole Box Clutch $895 (Sold Out)
