Spice Girls Relive Girl Power at the “Viva Forever!” VIP Night

Dec 12 2012 • by Deanna

It’s nice to see the Spice Girls together again. Remember how they thrilled us with their performance while atop moving cabs in the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremonies last August?

The feisty femmes reunited to attend the VIP night of the musical Viva Forever! Spice Girls: The Musical inspired by their hit songs, friendship and rise to fame as the chart-busting ultimate girl band in recent history.

5 Minus 1: Melanie Brown aka Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm aka Mel C at the VIVA Forever! Spice Girls the Musical held at the Piccadilly Theatre in London, England – 11.12.12
Group hug: Baby Spice, Sporty Spice, Ginger Spice and Scary Spice share a warm moment (check out Emma’s elegant emerald clutch)

So where was the fifth member of the group, Victoria Adams-Beckham? She arrived fashionably late (reportedly got stuck in traffic) and chose to pose for pictures with her family, thus missing the group shots. Posh Spice, indeed.

Let’s check out their red carpet styles:

The singer turned designer arrived at the event wearing Isabel Marant black trousers, pointy patent pumps, a deep purple jacket with a shirt both from her own line, Victoria Beckham, and a mirrored box clutch.

The chain strap of Emma’s rectangular satin clutch comes undone but she manages to smile and carry her bag with grace. Baby Spice looked sweet and sexy in her leg-baring customized sheer blue lace dress over a black mini dress by Michael Hunt which she paired with pink peep toe pumps.

Mel C wore a sleeveless gray hemline dress from Australian label Camilla and Marc and accessorized with blue peep toes and a dark blue glitter minaudiere.

Not to be missed are Geri and Mel B who came in their own signature looks. Ginger Spice went for silk chiffon in her baby blue floor-grazing gown by Suzanne Neville. Scary Spice, on the other hand, chose a sequined figure-hugging dress with a split-thigh cut to show off her toned gams.

Despite the notable performances of the West End cast, Viva Forever! received mixed reviews from critics and the press. But for fans of the Spice Girls, the show might be a thrill to see. It’s produced by Judy Cramer, known for the worldwide smash-hit musical Mamma Mia!, and penned by award-winning writer and comedienne Jennifer Saunders of Absolutely Fabulous and French & Saunders fame.

Curious already? Here’s a short clip of the launch, so prepare for girl power!
