It’s Orange and Yellow for Jessica Szohr

Jun 25 2010

Gossip Girl gal Jessica Szohr went bold at the Much Music Video Awards in Toronto, Canada. She was stunning in an orange plunging Jenny Packham sequined frock. Her platform sandals were in a neutral shade but her clutch was in an unexpected pop of yellow.

Her Red Carpet look was not easy to pull off but she handled it quite well. It is rare to see two bold colors in harmony. Jessica’s look prove to show that you need not be afraid to mix strong hues together. It can be tricky but you just have to keep your accessories at the minimum. As you can see, all Jessica had was her dress, clutch, and platform sandals. When working with bold colors, you can leave your jewelry and baubles at home.

In the market for a bright yellow clutch? Lucky you, you need not go far as Zappos has an array of choices which we have already edited and here are our top picks.

Whitney Port Fashions the Giuseppe Zanotti Pre-Fall 2010 Bow Clutch

Jun 24 2010

Reality TV Star and budding designer Whitney Port was spotted attending the YSL Belle D’Opium fragrance launch last week (June 17). Although her Yigal Azrouel dress was an interesting sight, what stood out was the Giuseppe Zanotti bow embellished clutch she toted:

Here’s a better look:

Giuseppe Zanotti IB0060 001 Bow Clutch

Aside from the oversized bow, the clutch also features matte black studs embedded all over the lambskin leather that makes up the tiny purse. The wrist handle which doubles as a zipper puller also makes this Giuseppe Zanotti creation an easy piece to carry.

What’s great about this tiny purse is its flexibility. You can take it to a red carpet event and it will just fit right in; or, you can bring it around as a day clutch and it will easily blend with your casual look.

This Giuseppe Zanotti work of art is part of the designer’s  Pre-Fall 2010 Collection. If you want it, you can purchase it from the Giuseppe Zanotti website for EUR750 or about US$950.

Now if you don’t want such a tiny piece of accessory to give you a run for your money, these cost friendly alternatives will do the trick:

Franchi Handbags Tania Metallic, on sale for US$161; Vince Camuto Bow Clutch, US$156; Betsey Johnson Bow-tiful Oversized Clutch, on sale for US$90; J. Furmani  Bow Wristlet, US$25; Steve Madden BLoose Clutch, US$39

Fergie and Julianne Hough: LBD + Clutch Style War

Jun 23 2010

A style star’s worst nightmare is to get photographed in the same outfit as another and get compared to bits.

And that’s exactly what we’ll do today! Just for fun and for our love of clutches, of course.

Our two contenders for today’s entry is R&B star Fergie versus Country Music darling Julianne Hough. Their common denominator is the stunning Camilla & Marc peek-a-boo little black dress. Fergie donned hers at last year’s Nine LA premiere and Julianne worked hers at the MTV Movie Awards early this month.

Julianne Hough at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards – Arrivals held at the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal Studios Universal City, June 6, 2010

Both slipped on black pumps to compliment their LBD’s and added interesting clutches for a personal spin on their respective outfits. Our interest of course is on their patterned clutches. Julianne was carrying a Jenny Packham beauty while Fergie’s remain to be a mystery.

One thing’s for sure though, both are predominantly black and interestingly patterned. If you are in the market for a clutch with those characteristics, then check out these goodies:

Ed Hardy Tiara Wristlet, $62

Christian Audigier Animale Flap Clutch, $96

L.A.M.B. Signature Newcombe Clutch, $107.40

These are mid-range clutches that are guaranteed to give your LBD’s a stylish lift taking cues from Fergie and Julianne.

Now the verdict on the fashion face-off? I would go for the country singer’s take on the Camilla & Marc dress. I like that she opted to wear her hair down and polish her look with the matte gold and black Jenny Packham clutch and the matte gold bangles. I also favor her classic black pumps over Fergie’s T-strap version which sort of shortened her frame all the more.

Well, that’s my take, what’s yours?

Paris and Nicky Hilton Go for Sparkles at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards

Jun 21 2010

If Eva Mendes went all gold with her accessories (click here to read article) during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, the Hilton sisters, Paris and Nicky, opted for sparkles.

First they attended a launch party:

Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton at the Launch Party For MTV’s ‘The Hard Times Of RJ Berger’ & ‘Warren The Ape’ at Trousdale, June 7, 2010

For the actual awards show, Nicky carried her crystal encrusted barrel clutch while Paris toted an even more dazzling silvery sequined piece to match with her off white feathery frock.

Side by side, you can tell that these two sisters are very different.  Obviously, Nicky likes to keep certain things toned down while Paris, well, we all know she likes the attention.

Although Nicky’s Missoni dress was more subdued, the stunning clutch and equally glamorous pair of Jimmy Choo strappies did quite a job in adding a dose of glam into her look.

Paris on the other hand, went all out with her show stopping Blumarine dress, purse, and (I’m sure you’ve noticed it) million dollar diamond earrings. It’s a good thing she chose to keep the shoes out of the picture by going for a neutral and more classic pair.

If I were to ask you the question, “which sister are you?”, who would you answer? Are you more of a Paris or a Nicky?

If you like to dazzle people, then you’re probably more of a Paris. These purses will definitely belong to your category:

Urban Expressions Glitter Rectangular Case, US$58; Whiting and Davis Metal Mesh Shirred Frame Clutch, US$150; La Regale Sequined Clutch, US$53

If you think you’re a Nicky, you’ll probably want these:

Inge Christopher Krystle Minaudiere, US$165; Whiting and Davis Ribbon Oversized Clutch, US$260; Coloriffics Handbags Moonbeam Clutch, US$47
