Give Selma Blair a New Clutch

Aug 9 2010

Wow…this sure is a pretty picture of Selma Blair. I can’t seem to pinpoint what’s making it oh-so-perfect.

Selma Blair Los Angeles Premiere of ‘Middle Men’ at the Arclight Cinemas, August 5, 2010

Is it her dress? Her black wavy hair? The angle? The pose? The skin? The legs? You know what, it’s the whole thing. It’s the combination of everything. I say this is her best shot ever.

And then I saw this picture…

Oh Selma, why oh why did you have to break the beautiful momentum by pairing your stunning black dress with a deep maroon clutch?

Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t look bad. But I find it kind of…lacking. You know, like she could have done better. She should have chosen a different purse. Something that would have stood out like a statement; either that or she should have just gone black all the way. What do you think? Do you agree with me on this?

Now if you were given the chance to change that one tiny detail on Selma’s outfit, which among these would you go for:

By Malene Birger Morcheba Clutch, US$445; Lauren Merkin Louise Crepe Clutch, on sale for US$126; Felix Rey Jungle Love Basket Clutch, on sale for US$95

Rafe New York Freida Flap Clutch, on sale for US$230; Franchi Handbags Beatrice Clutch, US$179; Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster, US$1,979

Posh Eye Candy: Bar Flap Clutches from Givenchy

Aug 6 2010

Check out what I found while browsing through BlueFly:

Givenchy Lambskin Gold Thread Detail Bar Flap Clutch, at US$956

Made of soft and supple lambskin leather with gold tone strips threaded along flap and bar

Givenchy Brown Calfskin Bar Flap Clutch, at US$716

Made of supple and grained brown calfskin leather with three dyed strips along center and gold tone hardware markings

Givenchy Black Lizard Embossed Calfskin Bar Flap Clutch, US$716

Made of black lizard embossed calfskin with gold tone hardware markings

Aren’t these Bar Flap clutches from Givenchy simply beautiful? I love everything about it – from the silhouette, to the soft material, to the  unique details.

My favorite? The White Lambskin. It’s definitely an eye candy I’d love to have. But even at its current marked down price (already 20% off retail value), it will  remain as that to me – an eye candy. I don’t think I can allow myself to spend that much on a piece of tiny purse. My conscience won’t let me. Just imagine how many pairs of shoes or pieces of bags you can buy for that amount.

Don’t get me wrong, I know the emotional high you get from owning a designer purse  is priceless, but let’s be pragmatic, shall we? Times are hard.

Now if you are one of the willing and able few, then go for it. Simply visit and make your purchase.

Tinsley Mortimer Forgets the Fringe, Goes for Studded and Oversized

Aug 2 2010

I have come to two conclusions – (1) that Tinsley Mortimer goes through stages when it comes to clutch preference, (2) and that she likes to buy in multiple colors of the same style.

Her past favorite was the fringe clutch, which she had in different colors (click here to read article). Now, she has shed her love of the fringe in place of a new favorite – a semi-pleated long and oversized studded frame purse. And as expected, she has it in several shades too. Check out these pictures and take note of the clutches:

So, what do you think of Tinsley’s new clutch preference? The subtle flamboyance from the fringe is definitely gone. But in its place is a more classic,  understated, but slightly edgy looking piece.  Do you think she traded up or down?

If you think Tinsley’s new choice is just perfect, then you will probably love these long clutches from Nina:

Get it from Zappos for only US$50. That’s definitely not a bad price to pay for looking like a socialite.

Kendra Wilkinson Clutches the Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster

Jul 24 2010

Looks like TV personality Kendra Wilkinson too is smitten with Alexander McQueen’s genius. At the 2010 ESPY Awards at Nokia Theatre L.A. last week she was seen clutching the Alexander McQueen Knuckle Duster we’ve featured here before.

She donned a one-shoulder frock accessorized with Alexander McQueen shoes and clutch. Her ensemble was simple but her choice of accessories added oomph to her total look.

Apart from the clutch Kendra’s shoes were also by Alexander McQueen; satin pumps with skulls on the vamp. Only Alexander McQueen can make skulls look oh so chic, don’t you agree?

Now if you yearn for that Knuckle Duster clutch, there are still 3 pieces left at Zappos. Just in light grey though, as the color Kendra picked is sold out:
