R&B singer Brandy sizzled on the red carpet of the NARM Music Biz Awards at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in California last May 10. She was clad in a black satin laser-cut mini dress by designer Izmaylova, a pair of lucite platforms by Versace and a studded clutch by Valentino. The ‘big’ hair reminds me of Diana Ross and the gam-revealing dress of  the iconic Tina Turner. I haven’t seen this gal in a pretty long time but I should say she looked nothing short of a diva!

I find her overall look on the chic rocker side, with the usual black and metallic combo, but definitely of the un-boring kind. Her choices are very appropriate, I must say! Her hemline might be hitched higher but not much skin can be seen waist-up, achieving the perfect bare-skin balance. The long gold tassel earrings break the monotony of black between her hair and her frock. The two best accessories she wore that evening were undoubtedly the shoes and the clutch. Let’s take a better look.

You immediately notice the similarities between both accessories: the black color and the gold studs. And though the two may have something in common, they are not exactly matchy-matchy. The woven leather is so characteristic of Bohemian style, I can easily picture it with a maxi dress in a contrasting color such as green, purple or even pink! This bag gives off a tribal feel as well and would have been the perfect Coachella Festival bag! It’s a mod bag, alright — so I would wear it with something 1960 or 70-ish fashion. British actress Alice Eve went for old Hollywood glamor as she stepped on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie, The Raven. The big wave, voluminous short golden hair and crimson lips are so reminiscent of the 60′s era. She could have stepped right out from a vintage magazine, I swear.

Alice was amply accessorized that night. Aside from her amazing Leiber clutch, she sported a huge statement ring (seen above), gold earrings with stones as blue as her shoes and gold bangles embellished with the same blue color (seen below). Interesting, yes? With her svelte silhouette, small waist and classic style, Alice Eve could easily be my next fashion icon. I hope she doesn’t disappoint.

Now, back to the clutch. Named The Grand Duchess Crystal Minaudiere made of Austrian crystals and pearlescent cabochons, this one heck of an accessory will set you off $3995, a grand price indeed for such a small evening bag. But the craftsmanship is exquisite, true to the Judith Leiber name. The sartorial designer demands only the finest quality in all her pieces. You can purchase the clutch at Neiman Marcus.

Camilla Belle hit the red carpet for the premiere of The Five Year Engagement which incidentally opened this year’s Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Dressed to the nines in a gold and black sheath with a matching tassel clutch from Asian designer Jason Wu, the actress was undoubtedly a stunner. As part of the Fall 2012 Collection which was largely inspired by the designer’s trip to his homeland Taiwan and neighboring China, the dress indeed served up a distinctive Asian flavor from the collar and keyhole down to its contouring lines.

What better way to accent this powerful dress than with a flirty & feminine tasseled clutch? Also from the same designer, the boxy lines are sleek and modern but softened by the tassel detailing and gold ornaments, definitely still resonating the modern Asian look.

The stand-out handbag turned out to be the Mulberry Cookie Mini Leather Shoulder Bag, a relatively small bag with a size of 4 inches by 5 inches and a depth of 2 inches. Shoulder strap drops at 24 inches. What’s so delightfully attractive about it is the cookie-cutter scallop trims on both the flap and the metal hardware encasing the turn-lock fastening.

Another note-worthy feature is the woven chain and leather strap, a classic element in not only Mulberry mini bags but in Chanel flap bags as well. What this double strap actually does is to help secure it on your shoulders so that it doesn’t slip off time and again. It definitely isn’t the first time we’ve seen Kate Bosworth with this tiny silver envelope clutch. In fact, she toted the same one (only with a different strap) last month, a photo of which can be found at our sister blog, Your Next Jewelry. She was also seen holding the gold version of the clutch last January and again last February. I am beginning to think that Kate really adores these tiny metallic bags from Jewelmint as she has taken it everywhere, even to the red carpet.

Last April 10, paps caught up with her as she was leaving a salon in Beverly Hills and guess what? She had the silver envelope box clutch slung on her shoulder. The Chanel Boy Bag line designed by Karl Lagerfield was launched in the fall of 2011. Anyway, AnnaSophia is turning into a style icon both on and off-screen. Last week, she was spotted twice in the Big Apple dressed in true-blue NYC fashion. Check out the orange shoulder bag — it’s a piece from Salvatore Ferragamo’s Spring/Summer 2012 Collection.

You immediately spot the bag, right? That’s what a small bag in an eye-popping color does! It draws attention away from your clothes (when needed) so that even a drab looking sweater and worn boots can be transformed into a trendy look.

Aside from the color, I love the shape of the bag and the tassel detail. If there’s another bag I would need right now, it will be a small bag in vivid color and long shoulder straps. I think it’s also stylish to hold a bag of this size as a clutch and let the straps drape (if they can’t be removed altogether).
